Interviewing Preparation Service
The Interviewing Preparation Service supports verbal communications skills for effective interviewing and networking. It provides up to 4 hours of one to one consulting, personal branding statement development and interview practice sessions using video playback.
Program Format
The client and the consultant meet in one on one sessions to discuss how to prepare for and deliver effective verbal messages in interviewing and networking environments. Here’s an outline of the process:
I. Communication Objectives
A. Define and communicate specific information to support one’s career objectives and match talents (skills, knowledge and experience) with the needs of the employer.
II. Prepare for the Presentation
A. Develop a confident style of communication using effective vocalization and non-verbal techniques.
B. Anticipate what questions the interviewer will be asking and develop concise answers.
C. Create a list of questions to ask the interviewer to gain a better understanding of the employer’s needs and then relate additional information about your abilities to fulfill those needs.
D. Develop a list of relevant PAR Stories (Problem, Action, Results) that show an employer that your experience is a match with their needs.
E. Create a Personal Branding Statement that effectively introduces you and your background to employers, recruiters and referral sources.
III. Delivery Techniques and Strategies
A. Practice interviewing techniques using role playing and video to gain an understanding of how to effectively present one’s self in interviews and networking situations.
B. Understand the concept of being an active listener.
C. Develop a strategy to control the interview in order to ensure an effective information-sharing experience.
Deliverables
Development of a Personal Branding Statement, Lists of relevant interview questions, and a List of PAR Statements to emphasize. Up to 4 hours of one on one consulting are provided.
